Swimming and wearing contact lenses are susceptible to pinkeye

Many people need to wear glasses to swim because of myopia, hyperopia or astigmatism. Some people wear contact lenses, but they don’t know that it’s inappropriate to wear contact lenses to swim.

Because contact lenses are absorbent and can absorb some substances, pathogenic microorganisms in water are easily deposited on the lenses. When the bacteria and viruses that cause pinkeye are deposited in large quantities, the eyes with contact lenses are more exposed to the pathogens than those without contact lenses. The threat of microorganisms is much greater.
